Download Odin3 1.7 (Odin3 v1.7.zip, 193 kB) to your computer.<br />
Download one of the following pre-rooted UCLB3 firmware packages:<br /> <a href="http://d-h.st/og3" target="_blank">I997UCLB3-root.rar</a> (173 MB) –If you only want rooted stock kernel and stock recovery<br /> <a href="http://d-h.st/cIa" target="_blank">I997UCLB3-root-deodex.rar</a> (174 MB) — If you want rooted stock kernel, stock recovery, deodex, zipalign, and BusyBox<br /> <a href="http://d-h.st/wXW" target="_blank">I997UCLB3-CWM-root-deodex.rar</a> (174 MB) — If you want rooted stock kernel, ClockworkMod Recovery, deodex, zipalign, and BusyBox<br /> <a href="http://d-h.st/XL7" target="_blank">I997UCLB3-CWM-root-deodex-extras.rar</a>
 (168 MB) — This is the recommended package. Get this if you want a 
pre-rooted custom kernel (Entropy’s Daily Driver), Red ClockworkMod 
Recovery, deodex, zipalign, BusyBox, no bloatware, and a few extra 
goodies (e.g., fix for scrolling wallpaper, CRT off animation, 8 lock 
screens, extended power menu, and accurate battery mod).<br />
Instructions<br /> <br />
Using WinRAR or similar software, extract the RAR package that you 
downloaded.  Extract the archive into a folder on your computer, 
preferably the Desktop, where you can easily find the extracted file.  
You should be getting one file with a *.tar.md5 extension.<br />
Extract Odin3 v1.7.zip into a folder on your computer.<br />
Turn off your phone and make sure that it is not connected to your computer.<br />
Boot your Infuse 4G into recovery by holding down the Volume Up, Volume 
Down, and Power buttons at the same time.  When you see the Samsung 
logo, release the Power button. In recovery, use the Volume buttons to 
navigate and the Power button to select options.<br />
Select the Wipe All User Data option. This won’t affect any files on 
your SD card. Confirm data wipe by selecting Yes on the next screen.<br />
Select Wipe All Cache Data.<br />
Select Reboot system now and allow your phone to reboot normally.<br />
After the phone has completely booted, turn it off completely again.<br />
On your computer, run Odin3 by double clicking on Odin3 v1.7.exe.<br />
Click the PDA tab in Odin3 and select the *.tar.md5 file that you extracted from the RAR package.<br />
Connect the USB cable to the computer.<br />
While holding down the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons on your phone, 
plug the other end of the USB cable into your phone.  This will place 
the phone in Download Mode.  In Odin3,  you will see an “Added!” 
message, indicating that the device is recognized.  If you do not see 
this message, reinstall the device drivers or check that you enabled USB
 debugging.<br />
Click START in Odin3 to start flashing the kernel. Wait for it to finish.<br />
Once the flashing is done, your device will automatically reboot. You 
should get a “PASS” message on the Odin3 window, indicating that the 
flashing was successful.<br />
However, if you get a “FAIL” message on the Odin3 window, disconnect the
 phone from the computer, close Odin3, remove your phone’s battery, 
re-insert the battery, start over from step 3.</div>

<br />
The  open developer community is important to Sony, so they have made it
      possible to unlock the boot loader for the launch of Xperia ™   
certain    devices from 2011 onwards. To find out which models are   
compatible  with  this service, please see the Supported Phones page to 
  the left.<br />
<br />
Please note that void the warranty of your device and / or any warranty 
    from your operator if you unlock the bootloader. See warranty   
statement   for your device for more information. In  addition, due to  
 the   modification of device software, the Sony network  repair is   
likely to   have to replace key components before testing  properly,   
repair and   verify the device using our tools and software  repair.   
Consequently,    if Sony makes a warranty repair, Sony will probably be 
  charged a    service fee significant additional costs caused by the   
modification of    the software.<br />
<br />
Some  of the contents of your device also may be inaccessible due to the
      elimination of DRM and security key user data partition safe to   
 unlock   the bootloader. We advise you to create backups as user data, 
   settings  and accounts are deleted. For  Xperia ™ devices published  
2013   or later  (for example Xperia ™ Xperia ™  Z and ZL), the SD card 
 from   your device  will be formatted and you will  lose all content  
(eg,   photos, music,  videos) to unlock the manager boot.<br />
<br />
If  you are fully aware of the risks involved, and have a thorough      
knowledge about these technologies, go to bootloader unlocking      
instructions page. You should be aware that unlocking the bootloader    
 will not give root access. The only way to get root access is a flash  
   custom ROM with root access.<br />
<br />
<b>Instructions</b><br />
<br />
First, you should confirm that it is possible to unlock the boot loader 
    of your phone by dialing the service menu. On your phone, open the  
   dialer and enter * # * # 7378423 # * # * to access the service menu.<br />
<br />
1. On the phone, press Info Service> Configuration> Rooting     
Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can proceed to  
   the next step. If you say no, or if the state is not present, the   
device   can not be unlocked.<br />
<br />
2. On the computer, click Continue at the bottom of this page to start the boot loader unlocking process.<br />
<br />
3. Read the information in the popup and click Yes, I'm sure, if you're still sure you want to unlock the bootloader.<br />
<br />
4. Read and accept the legal terms. Click I accept.<br />
<br />
5. Enter your name, a valid email address and the first 14 digits of the
     IMEI or MEID number (clear the last digit if necessary). Click   
Submit.   You can view the IMEI or MEID number by entering * # 06 # on  
 your  phone.<br />
<br />
6. The boot boot loader unlock key will be sent to your email. Save it for later use.<br />
<br />
7. Download and install the latest version of Android SDK developer.android.com.<br />
<br />
8. Download and unzip the file. This  is the standard     
android_winusb.inf-file with a few lines of code added  to enable     
Fastboot to support Sony and Sony Ericsson. Make sure you are running   
  Google USB Driver package version 4 or higher on your Android SDK. You
     can see current Google USB Driver package revision in the SDK  
Manager.<br />
<br />
9. Place the unzipped file in the folder USB_Driver, located in the     
Android SDK> extras> google folder on your computer. OK to replace
     the old android_winusb.inf-file with the new file. If you can not  
 find   the folder USB_Driver, install the Google USB Driver Packager   
using  the  Android SDK Manager.<br />
<br />
10. Turn off the phone.<br />
<br />
11. On your phone, press and hold the Fastboot button while connecting  
   the phone to the computer with a USB cable. Fastboot button may 
differ     between different phone models. See page Fastboot button for 
more     information on using the button on your phone.<br />
<br />
12. On the computer, you are prompted to drivers. Select the folder     
where you placed the USB_Driver android_winusb.inf-file, and select the 
    Android Bootloader Interface-file.<br />
<br />
13. Open a command window and navigate to the folder in the Android SDK tools.<br />
<br />
14. Enter fastboot.exe-i 0x0fce getvar version, and verify that you get a
     response back (eg "0.3"). This means that your phone is connected  
   properly.<br />
<br />
15. Warning! If you perform this step jumps to the boot loader. This may
     void the warranty and / or any warranty from your operator. If  you
     still want to unlock the boot loader of your phone, enter      
fastboot.exe-i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY, where key is the key to      
unlocking bootloader you have at the beginning of this instruction. The 
    boot loader should now be successfully unlocked.<br />
<br />
Now begin to unlock the boot loader of your phone. This way you can void
     the phone's warranty. Sony  can not guarantee full functionality of
     your phone, and will not be  responsible for any malfunction of the
     phone, or property damage or  personal injury caused by the phone.<br />
<br />

To create an application, enter your name, IMEI (or MEID) and a valid email address.<br />
You will then get the boot loader unlock key by email. You can view the 
    IMEI (or MEID) number by entering * # 06 # on your phone.<br />

<b>How to upgrade the Android 2.1 (Eclair) to 2.2 (Froyo) on a Dell XCD28:<br />
Warning: Attempt at your own risk, although the method is fully tested  
but there can be unexpected results if you fail to follow the  
instructions properly.<br />
Note: <br />
1. In terms of hardware Dell XCD28 is none other but ZTE Racer and all ROMs available for a racer work on XCD28.<br />
2. All your data shall be erased in the process. Contacts can be  
exported to SD card and after up gradation you can import them back to  
your phone from sd card.<br />
Method:<br />
Files required:<br />
1. UniversalAndroot_1.6.1.apk<br />
2. RecoveryManager_v0.36b.apk <br />
3. recoverysu850 -<br />
4. 2.2 Froyo ROM and Update <br />
Steps:<br />
1. Export all your contacts to SD card. Open contacts----Select  
Menu----Select Import/Export----Select Export to SD card (if prompted to
  choose contacts from a list the select all by clicking on menu and 
then  click done).<br />
2. Note down the IMEI no. of your phone by removing the battery or by dialing *#06# on your phone.<br />
3. Connect your xcd28 to computer and open you sd card. Now create a new
  folder, name it as Androroot and copy all the downloaded files to it.<br />
4. Disconnect you xcd28 from computer.<br />
5. Open Filer on phone and open the folder Androroot.<br />
6. Install UniversalAndroot_1.6.1 and open it.<br />
7. Click on Root<br />
8. Once rooting is complete.<br />
9. Go back to androroot and install recovery manager and open it.<br />
10. Provide superuser rights by clicking on allow.<br />
11. Click on recovery and further install recovery.<br />
12. Select the image file on recovery install popup and then confirm by clicking on OK.<br />
13. Click on Reboot in recovery and confirm by clicking OK.<br />
14. Phone will restart in recovery mode.<br />
15. In this mode you can navigate in the menu list by using only volume 
 increase/decrease keys and select a menu by pressing the power on/off  
button. Touch screen input is not operational in recovery mode.<br />
16. Press these keys in sequence – volume decrease key—volume increase  
key--- volume decrease key. You’ll see a message on screen Back menu  
button enable (this enables your power button for selecting a menu  
option). Note: If you press volume increase—volume decrease—volume  
increase then it will disable the power button (back menu button).<br />
17. Go to backup and restore option by pressing volume increase key and select by pressing the power button.<br />
18. Select backup by pressing the power button.<br />
19. This will backup your original phone configuration to sd card. The  
backup is stored in /clockworkmod/backup folder on SD card. This backup 
 can be used to restore back to original firmware if you face any issue 
 with the upgrade.<br />
20. Once you see the backup complete option on your phone screen,  
navigate to wipe data/factory re option by using the volume keys and  
select it by pressing the power button.<br />
21. Navigate to Yes – delete all u and select it by pressing power button.<br />
22. When you see Data wipe complete on your screen, navigate to choose zip from sd card and select by pressing power button.<br />
23. Navigate to androroot folder and select by pressing power button.<br />
24. Select Android 2.2.zip using power button.<br />
25. Navigate to Yes-Install Android and press power button.<br />
26. Wait while android is being installed.<br />
27. Once you see the message Install from SD card complete then repeat  
from step no. 22 but this time select the file update.zip in the  
androroot folder.<br />
28. Once this installation is complete select go back and then select reboot system now.<br />
29. Phone restarts in Android Froyo. At first boot it may take upto 5-10 mins.<br />
30. If at first start you find your phone is in locked mode, not to worry we can unlock it for free.<br />
